Terms of use

In short: with Paraaf you scan your website and your business for free; Paraaf+ and Paraaf Pro are paid subscriptions with follow-up (points 10 to 13). Paraaf helps you on your way, but it is not legal advice and not a certificate. What you do with the result is your decision.

Who offers Paraaf?

Paraaf is a service by Neal Van de Velde (nealvdv, VAT BE 0671.938.794), reachable via contact@nealvdv.be. The scans and an account are free; Paraaf+ and Paraaf Pro are paid. By using the site, you accept these terms.

Not legal advice

Paraaf gives general information about Belgian and European rules, in plain language and with sources. It is not legal, tax or accounting advice and does not replace your accountant, social secretariat or lawyer. Have important points checked by them before you decide anything.

Not a certificate

A green verdict or a file without open points does not mean your business or your website complies with the law. Paraaf issues no attestation, certificate or quality mark, and a website scan or file may not be presented as one.

Information as of a date

Every rule lists its sources and the date we checked it. Laws change: what changed after that date may not be in it yet. A rule we haven’t checked yet is shown as ‘to check’, never as an obligation.

What Paraaf doesn’t see

The website scan automatically looks at what is publicly visible on a website; the business check relies on your own answers. What we can’t see, or an answer that isn’t right, can change the result.

Liability

You use Paraaf at your own responsibility. We are not liable for decisions you make or don’t make based on Paraaf, nor for their consequences, except in case of intent or gross negligence and insofar as the law does not provide otherwise.

Other people’s websites

You can have any public website scanned. Paraaf only reads public pages: it doesn’t log in anywhere or fill in forms, and the number of scans per visitor is limited. Don’t use Paraaf to overload a site or to put someone in a bad light unfairly.

How long a website scan is kept

Every website scan gets a link that can’t be guessed; anyone with the link can read the scan. After 30 days the link stops working and the scan is deleted, except the latest scans an account keeps. Do you own a scanned site and want the scan gone sooner? Email the link to contact@nealvdv.be.

An account

An account is voluntary and free. You sign in with a link by email: whoever gets into your mailbox gets into your account, so keep it well secured. Use the account for your own business or for businesses you work for, not to overload the site; in case of abuse we may close an account. You can always delete your account yourself. For Paraaf+ and Paraaf Pro, the points below apply as well.

Paraaf+ and Paraaf Pro

Paraaf+ and Paraaf Pro are subscriptions for businesses and organisations, monthly or yearly. The prices are on the pricing page, including 21% VAT; through Mollie you pay exactly that amount. The first payment starts the subscription; after that each period is charged automatically in advance with the payment method you chose. After every payment the invoice is in your account.

What Paraaf+ and Paraaf Pro do

The monthly website scan only reads public pages of the website you confirm for your business. Only confirm the website of your own business or of a business you work for. We write when the scan finds something new or sees something put in order, and when a change we track affects a rule in your file. We do our best to include changes in time, but do not promise to see every change or to report it in time. The file as a PDF is not a certificate. With Paraaf Pro you put your own name and logo on the file and on shared scans: only use a name and logo you hold the rights to, and do not present a report as anything other than a Paraaf report.

Cancelling

You cancel whenever you like, in your account. Nothing is charged after that, and your plan runs until the end of the period you already paid for. A running period is not refunded, not even in part. Your data stays and the limits of the free account apply again. If a payment fails, the plan keeps running for seven more days; if the payment does not come through, the account falls back to the free account.

Right of withdrawal

Paraaf+ and Paraaf Pro are meant for businesses and organisations, not for consumers. The 14-day right of withdrawal for consumers therefore does not apply. You can always cancel, as described above.

Price changes

If the prices change, we announce it by email at least 30 days in advance. The new price applies from the first period that starts after those 30 days; if you do not agree, you cancel before then.

The site itself

We do our best to keep Paraaf accurate and available, but we don’t promise the site always works or is free of errors. We may change Paraaf, the rules and these terms; the date at the top shows the latest change.

Applicable law

These terms are governed by Belgian law. In a dispute we first look for a solution together; failing that, the Belgian courts have jurisdiction, without prejudice to the mandatory rules that protect you as a consumer.
